I think the point though Kirrie is that the means testing system only

applies for residential care arrangements at the moment (i.e. going into a home) whereas they are now saying its going to apply for people receiving care at home as well.

But yes they do guarantee that everyone will retain at least £100K of assets which is £75k more than those who need to go into a care home are guaranteed.

I suppose if you have elderly parents or an elderly parent many will face a choice of looking after them in their old age or letting the state take the strain in lieu of future inheritance you might otherwise have received.
