Short answer: community law trumps UK law. Parliament is no longer supreme. Community law passed by community institutions directly enforceable in UK. ECJ rules supreme. Parliament can't legislate where there's existing community law etc etc etc

Massive loss of sovereignty, for good or ill (not getting into that, just saying that it's true that we have surrendered a lot of power to Europe so just because Farrage says it, doesn't automatically mean it's paranoid bollocks)
