Its not that complicated. A lot of people hate the EU and the fact we have
surrendered elements of our own sovereignty to them. I doubt many people voting UKIP know their detailed policies.
I suspect also most of the people voting UKIP might switch back to the Tories come a general election but until Cameron does something meaningful to convince people he will take back powers/control from Brussels then UKIP will continue to get votes. His pledge on a referendum was a good start but until people can tell whether it actually had any substance they will be sceptical I think.
