Yes, I enjoyed Jonathan Strange

if you're into horror, then The Stand is a bit of a Stephen King epic.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a book that everyone should read. Poignant, heroic, depressing.

Also, Birdsong, though it is a little slow in parts, is the best WW1 novel I've read.
