I think there's been a basic plan

But not really a sense of how they're looking to evolve it.

It's been a disrupted year naturally, but (comparatively speaking) I don't really get the sense that we've settled on a core group, or that when we swap people in and out they've got a clear idea of their role (within the team) or that the team has a clear idea of how to use them.

The Germany game was the first glimmers of that being in place, to my eyes. Though it is all lacking that well connected feel you get with teams who are used to playing with each other and know their roles.

So yes, I think that there's been a plan, I'm a little bit dubious about how well we've built towards its implementation.

It's reflected as well in the confusion around team selection (among the fans and press). We need sterling or Rashford in the team for their pace, (for the plan to work).

Hasn't stopped people banging on about using mount/foden/Grealish and hasn't stopped the manager from playing around with this all in the group stages (even in view of the disruption this year, I'd have hoped we'd have come in more settled than we have)
