Polarisation is certainly the case.

In addition, I absolutely believe there is an attitude of the club selling itself short but I also think that a lot of it comes from fans' defeatist attitudes - "He's too good to play for us", "Along come Norwich" etc. If the fans show no pride it's easier to accept defeat and moan about it rather than keep on fighting and try to improve. I know the fans have no direct effect on the boardroom but their attitudes are reflected there.
