harsher punishments, stop and search, more police, etc etc, only tackle the symptoms (and in many respects will make the situation worse).

So it needs proper investment in social services, education, local amenities and infrastructure, youth workers, social engagement, apprenticeships, jobs, and all that other stuff that gets so easily written off/ignored. Give kids a viable future that is more attractive than being in a gang.

Do agree re harsher punishments for acid attacks though. Needs to be a specific offence for it, and could do with looking at restricting the sale of some of the ingredients (although difficult given how easily household products can be weaponized)
