Why are people ignoring our rich heritage of successful, internal appointments?
I can accept that there is some disappointment, that people are underwhelmed, however people are behaving as if the decision is a disgusting, conspiratorial sham and not the appointment of a very highly regarded coach.
There is no saying that it will work out but ultimately I think the decision making process is sound and this nonsense about the 'cheap option' just isn't thought through. How much more exactly do people think Malky would have been paid? A million? 500k? Anything at all?
He's a good guy; knowledgeable, motivated, successful and clearly persuasive - yet there is a level of faux paranoid outrage here. People are ranting and would have it that we've appointed the tea lady.
