that not only is Adams our manager, but that the Bowkett was claiming he was easily the best candidate across Europe.
Even allowing for Adams' attributes, young players, youth team, won the FA youth cup, a good coach, love of Norwich, masses of enthusiasm etc etc. I am really struggling to see how this translates to him being EASILY the best candidate for the task at hand?
His first team managerial experience consists of a mere 5 games, of which he won none, but admittedly the circumstances and the games themselves made it very tough.
What experience does Neil have of managing some relatively big names, on huge sums of money? A first team squad where the dynamics of managing are different from managing young lads?
An excellent youth team manager, does not automatically translate to someone who is an excellent or even a good manager at first team level and perhaps especially not at a Premier League club or one hoping to make a swift return there.
Bowkett also said of Adams, that he was a dynamic manager who could make in game changes that could influence the game; something that was lacking with our previous manager. But how can Bowkett claim this? What evidence is there of Neil being able to do this with the first team, against other teams' first teams, and other good and experienced first team managers, who are more skilled at countering opposition changes and substitutes?
How does Neil's enthusiasm and love for the club, massively outweigh a much more experienced candidate and one who perhaps has experience of getting promotion? In my eyes, it simply cannot and it is a bigger gamble than appointing a more experienced candidate would be.
I would have been delighted to have seen Neil as an assistant to a more experienced candidate.
I am not knocking Neil as a person and he may well indeed, and I hope he does, become a big success. But a lot of this is based on hope and there is simply not the substance to back up a lot of what the board keep telling us about Neil.
It will be interesting to see what players stay and what players Neil can persuade to play for our club and of course it goes without saying I will be fully behind Neil and the lads next season.
