I think it’s just hard these days

The larger clubs have totally distorted the domestic market. They hoover up any young player that looks good and chuck them in vast youth programmes. Back in the day you’d find all manner of talent in lower leagues. Now it’s still there, but on loan from a Prem club. Hence Doyle. Of course there are still some, but not money fail to get hoovered up by the massive clubs.

This also pushes the price up for domestic players, alongside general inflation in the game. Hence the reason why we can’t really afford domestic gambles, and have to shop elsewhere.

And even these markets are still hard. Everyone is expecting Crnac to be utterly incredible because we spent 10m (allegedly) on him. But that really is f**k all these days, especially for a young player with the possibility they might be really good later.

Basically, the only way to succeed is to have way more money available. You need to “do a Forest” and then hope it works.

TLDR. Football is f**ked.
