should be our objective or target. Having a target that allows you to get relegated and still claim you are meeting your objectives seems to me to lack ambition.

You are right there are about 15-20 similar sized clubs who can also claim that they are "worthy" of a place in the premier league based on size, support, history etc but that's not really relevant. If you get to the top division, the aim should be to stay there.
