Jim's point was to put some sort of balance of power in their hands, not because they seem to be any actual good, but because by an large they're not too "excessive" - and I think I can sympathise with that view - such has been the polarisation of politics (and though I take the point that re Brexit, it's quite hard not to take one side or the other, given the nature of the thing)
