One thing is...

...its easier to take it all away and start over by giving it back sensibly, than try to unravel the mess that it all is right now. If they could ride it, they probably would do that.

One point that stuck with me from the debates was about earn or learn. Yes, some people will be exceptions to every rule but, when you have a system that allows school leavers to immediately sign on and ask for housing benefit, something is wrong. DC wants to end that, and I agreed with that point.

And when we have private landlords earning billions from councils due to a combination of too many council houses being sold off, not enough being built and too many people claiming* then something is wrong, so reigning all that in also makes sense to me.
