Not everybody is worse off....

Those at the bottom, private, public and self-employed undoubtedly are. Doesn't apply to your case but in many larger firms pensions for workers have been scrapped or reduced, whilst executive pay and pensions packets continue to rise - substantially.
Assume you face rising costs, more competition and people can afford less so you suffer. But I don't understand how your situation is improved by taking more spending out of the economy.

It's economic madness, don't give pay rises, increase wht you take from them with higher contributions and the VAT hike, and of course people have less to spend. The deficit is increasing FFS, as unemployment goes up and the tax take goes down. The solution - take even more out! No wonder they can't see things getting better - policies made up by 19 millionaires for their city friends, they've got us all accepting as if there is no alternative with the classic centuries old tactic of 'divide and rule' - set the poor against each other and stand back, whilst MP's keep their pensions and their city friends keep their bonuses.

Just find it very depressing how easy it seems to be to get folks turning against ech other rather than those responsible for the crisis. (end of rant)
