Just 4 weeks

I work for myself
My hours are not set as I also have to work until whatever I'm doing is done, sometimes very long hours
I also am on call for emergency call outs
24 hours a day
In the 9 years I have worked for myself I havnt taken a holiday with the family, as if one of my regular customers has a breakdown or somebody needs a job finishing and they get somebody else to do it, they do a good job I lose the work and probably don't get it back.
I work on my own so i can't just take the time off
So we have to make do with an odd day off for a day out when I can manage one
I havnt put my hourly rate up in all the time I've worked for myself, and the costs of running the business have gone up along with the general cost of living
So in summary I wrk longer get paid less, don't get holiday or sick pay, don't have a pension unless I decide to pay for one myself.
I'm not moaning about my job as its my choice to do what I do
What I'm saying is the people who go on strike do get on my tits a bit bleating on about pensions etc
EVERYBODY is worse off at the moment going on strike isn't going to help, grin and bear it a be thankful you've got a job at all
Until things get better there isn't the money in the economy to pay for all these things
Unless the private sector is making money ( which it's not at the moment )
Then the public sector has less as well, so less money to pay for what you're after
You're not being asked to do anything that I'm not already doing for myself to keep myself earning
Rant over.
