Morally clearly wrong, especially with the lack of notice. The horrific method of communication was probably the only manner since they also fired most of the management who would otherwise have delivered the news in person.

However I thought since the term "redundant" was used, they wouldn't be able to then fill redundant roles, even if they were with agency staff or Ukrainian refugees. I am sure there's a loophole there somewhere though. Most large companies aren't going to just do something that drastic without first doing their research.
