Just to be controversial. . .
the signings before & during the premiership season were decent enough on paper & even on the pitch, but didn't bed in quickly enough (typical problem promoted teams face when wholesale changes are made to the starting 11).
Helveg & Safri got roundly panned on here after only playing a game or two & so worthington opted to drop Edworthy & holt back into the side (who were more integrated with the team). People on here banged on for so long about how short Charlton was, that they didn't seem to notice that central defence was a lot better with him in it. (as an aside, anybody saying Malky should have played in the prem, just look at the number of times he was at fault for goals in the championship winning season).
This season we've had a hell of a lot of starting 11 churn again (Holt & francis both going, safri's dodgy injury record) & so it's not really surprising that we're not setting the division alight.
Thing is, Worthington has shown that he can build a team that'll challenge in this division & although this year has gone pear shaped I'd much rather the board stuck behind him & we had continuity next year.
I reckon at least three of Thorne, Etuhu, Jarrett, Hughes, Colin will do the business week in-week out for Norwich for the next few years, in much the same way that Francis, Holt, Doc, Flem, Iwan all did well after shakey starts.
AAAaaand lastly, much of how a team does is still down to luck. We had it 2 & a half years ago, it ain't running for us now.
