He will now have seen different things from different players in different formations. Of course he's planning for next season and of course he wants to see what the player he does have are made of in terms of flexibility, adaptibility and attitude.

He found a squad at rock bottom. Does he feel he can trust any one of those players with his life? I doubt it. Put them through it, test them, see what they're made of. Then decide who to keep up and build up the squad from there.

Look where we are. Look where we were. Job done for now. Phase two begins.

Thank god for Glenn Roeder (if such optimism is permitted amongst this bizarre miserabilsm).
