However, just because the US (& UK) gained some advantage because of 9/11 does not prove in any way that they planned or allowed it to happen. One should most definitely question their subsequent acts though.

Up to the invasion of Iraq a majority of Americans belived that Saddam was behind 9/11. Not even the US & UK governments believe that one, but they fed the lie, a largely supine press (honourable exceptions) failed to question it and allowed it to seep into public conciousness.
