We’ve also had Europes left wing immigration approach for most of it

I know saying this will make me “far right” or whatever anyone wants to say but Trump won because he taps in to what a very large number of Americans are genuinely concerned about. Other politicians don’t listen to them or belittle their concerns and indeed pursue policies that are the polar opposite and therefore infuriate large chunks of the electorate.

The outside perception may be that our country has shifted left by electing a Labour government but the population hasn’t. Tories and Reform got about 50% of the vote they just split it. Reform will win the next election unless Starmer gets a grip on mass immigration by which I mean pretty much stops it except to fill skilled job vacancies, particularly immigration from islamic countries (whether legal or illegal) because if that religion continues to grow as it has in the UK (and it probably will now due to demographics anyway) society will be even more divided and polarised in 10/20 years time.

I agree that the tories inexplicably failed to get a grip on immigration and in fact increased immigration and obviously they were not “left wing”. They prioritised short term economic growth/recovery post Brexit and covid over anything else.

Ultimately, it all goes back to Blair and a deliberate policy to allow mass immigration which has changed the demographics of the country. We’ve never seen a period of demographic change like we’ve had in the last 30 years and it will obviously lead to tensions. It creates polarisation, resentment and division and ultimately leads to people voting for the likes of Trump or Farage if they feel they are not being listened to. I wouldn’t vote for Farage but I can absolutely see why people would, especially if the alternative is as weak and ineffectual as Karmala Harris was. Trump ultimately did a solid job on the economy last time which is important to people and he taps into something that Harris doesn’t.
