I don't know much about Carsley but I did post one of those videos. His U21 team played some amazing football and won the euros without conceding a goal. Whether or not he can translate that to the senior team is another question. But Spain just won the Euros with a former youth coach.

Last night was clearlty an experiment which went badly wrong and I am sure that he will have learned a lot from it. Carsley can hardly be held accountable for the absolute comedy defending of the 2nd goal though. On the plus side it gives him carte blanche to drop who he wants, like the Oxford game at the start of the season.

And although the seedings matter, it is much better to experiment in these games rather than turn up at a tournament without actually knowing what your central midfield is going to be, a la Southgate.
