Another issue: rankings / seedings. When was the last time the rankings mattered? Belgium have frequently been top ranked, but always go out of tournaments in the last 16 or 8. Spain (?) may have been world number one when they won in 2010/12, I don’t know, but it’s not usually relevant.

I don’t know anyway. International football only means something to me in tournaments.
