if you are talking about the safe standing in the snake pit ....
the rail is the bit that will stop you getting hurt
at the moment if you stand and someone from behind pushes you hard enough you will go forward and over the seat back in front of you potentially breaking your leg ,knees and the person in front of you
with safe standing the rail is about waist high so if some one pushes you from behind you are high unlikely to go over the top of the rail and hurt yourself or the person in front of you
