Agree, this is a really big appointment with lots to consider, it can't be a short process

There are limits to how much groundwork the club could do before sacking DF.
Lets be honest if they had conducted actual interview while DF was still in place we'd be rightly pissed off.

Suspect they sounded out whether key candidates would be willing to have an interview, looked at who said yes, then made the decision from there.
They then needed to schedule interviews with managers in varying geographical locations with varying current obligations.
Frankly getting it done in a week would be impressive.
