I was a trade union rep for a long old time

Never involved in a constructive dismissal case - mainly because each full time official we had over the years were adamant that they were very difficult to succeed with at court - the alternative approach was instigating the company grievance procedure and, if the member was certain they didn't want to / couldn't work there any longer, we would look to get a compromise agreement whereby they'd effectively be paid a lump sum to resign - a 'Golden Goodbye' if you like.

Obviously individual circumstances would influence if this happened and if so, quantums involved.

But in answer specifically to your Q, yes, almost every member unfortunately found the process and the waiting stressful, frustrating and upsetting but then not all of them were as financially well set up as you sound to be and *needed* a result to give them a financial cushion until they found another job - that in itself brings it's own pressure and strains.
