I agree Jim

Although you've missed WBA from the list of sides last time we went up. They were probably the best squad but had a terrible manager.

The thing I find a bit frustrating is that in my mind what we were going to do was go up, not spend much, have a go at staying up with what we had, then come down and go again with a stronger squad - the same players we already had plus some additional quality additions.

However, we've sold a couple of good players (Lewis and Godfrey) and all of the signings (Gibson apart) are raw and unproven and unlikely to be able to immediately cut it in the Prem.

As you say, I think we need more athleticism through the whole squad to be able to compete at a higher level. In the championship our squad's technical ability shines through and sets us apart, in the prem, every squad has technical ability and added on to that they have athleticism that we can't compete with.

I think on the whole this squad is stronger than the one that went up last time; Skipp is a quality addition, Aarons has improved, Gibson is probably a better defender that Godfrey at the moment, Cantwell is better than he was, Dowell adds something (when fit), Krul is better now than he was, but it's not a drastic improvement. Not to the extent that I could imagine us going from being uncompetitive last season in the prem to being competitive next season - at least not without spending the kind of money we're unlikely to spend.

On the plus side though, it means I cna just enjoy this season without worrying about promotion because frankly, the prospect of a season in the prem isn't very appealling.

Hard to see how we can add that through the
