But

People will hold their noses and vote for Boris despite his rather questionable attitude to the truth, for several reasons.
First- he does actually have a policy on brexit which seems to comprise progress and which can be spoken aloud without making people actually burst into laughter.
Second- though he seems reluctant to speak about it - he/the conservatives get the idea that a wealthy society will tend to be a better one in which to live, with better services etc. Wealth is generally speaking produced by trade/business, and yet Corbyn and McDonnell would make the country pretty unattractive as a place to do those things. Nationalizing companies, taking shares, empowering the unions, reducing the working week etc - their instincts are wrong and many people will believe they will damage the economy and harm everyone, rich or poor (though we know who tends to suffer most). They also see the Labour party's current instinct as power grabbing (for the many = for the government, see history ...).

I think more interesting is who will win Labour's civil war - will the next election be fought by a sensible centre left party or corbyn mark II. And what will be the future negotiated relationship with the EU ... that is up for grabs.

But as I say, in a field of unattractive prospects people will chose the least bad, and I reckon that will be the cons. That doesnt mean they're "c**ts". Though only a fool predicts this election ...
