travelling around the country as a tourist by public transport is a nightmare of timetable issues, and it only really serves hub-to-hub. If you need to get around any given town you'll probably then need taxis and the like.

It's not so much the driving on the correct side (although watch out for motorcyclists [Too soon, Ed]) but the bigger difference will be trying to follow the signage and what have you. Everything is more constricted here vs US roads so you wont have as much thinking time and warning of upcoming junctions. UK road signs (and satnavs) tend to assume you have half an idea of where you are.

Traffic levels aren't any different, I don't think, to urban US (at least based on Denver Colorado) but we have the same volume of traffic in half the road space.

Just remember that you can't turn on a red light. On the flip side, we have very few stop signs and most of those can be treated as yields. Most big roundabouts are spiral roundabouts so just follow your lane around.

Just take it slowly and enjoy the trip.
