Empirically you're wrong on almost all counta

Despite media hoohar (the attack that kicked off this whole debate would never have been possible to have been reported so quickly, or widely, in the past) there is less gang warfare than when you were younger. Indeed, violent crime is a fair bit lower than the days you are harking back to.

(have you read Brighton rock?)

While there is a greater variety of drugs on the street now, there are also a greater number of kids who are teetotalers. The heaviest drinking age group is in the 50+ bracket.

We've had the longest stretch of time without a major war. (why do you want to bring back conscription? )

The death penalty has no proven deterrent effects. Indeed, America has some of the highest crime rates in the world.

The world has changed, and you don't like it.

"i don't give a flying fcuk what anyone else thinks"... "I'm disappointed..."

And there we have it. You're not happy and it's easier to blame the world than to look at yourself.

Apologies if you have directly been on the end of the knife crime, violence, drugs etc problems.

I'd also take issue with you setting yourself up as voice of 'your generation'. I'm no longer young myself and am quite flattered that your opinion places me as a 'relative youngster'. And my parents. And probably my grandparents (who are no longer with us).

And finally, I most certainly can cope with an opinion expressed which does not match my own. You seem to be confused. People not agreeing with you doesn't mean they can't cope with your opinion. They can and they're happy to tell you you're wrong.

How are you coping with that?
(that was rhetorical too)
