Cardiff has pretty much nailed it below, all I would add is it helps to look prepared

Turn up with something, CV, folder, some notes on the company help.

They'll want you to be able to explain your CV, so if you've put down achievements at work, or things that you do, be prepared to give the detail.

Example - If you "ran a project to replace our ageing GUI with a new bespoke system" be prepared to be able to give some EXACT detail of YOUR involvement in that. Not what the team/project did but specifically what you added.

If you flounder at detail, that will be what looses it for you as the interviewer will start writing your achievements off as exaggerated or even pure bulls**t.

Last point, ask questions, have some prepared questions to ask. If they get answered organically during the interview that's fine, but at the end when they say "any questions" let them know "I had down here to ask about XYZ but we've already covered them" - Works better if you've done the prep and taken your notes with you.

These things do depend on the role though...!
