The academy...

Is a framework within which we can bring through some of our own (the Murphys) and some of the best we poach from elsewhere (maddison, Godfrey, Thompson, that arsenal dude)

We're at risk of having some poached, we'll poach some ourselves (see above) and we can hoover up some who don't make the grade witg the big clubs...

The academy, and its status, is one strand in persuading players we're a good route for their career.

Having an effective system of loaning players out when they're ready for toughening up, but not for our first team, is just as important. I think this is where we've made the biggest strides in recent years.

The final pillar is having a route for those players who negotiate the first two steps to get into the first team and raise their stock.

At the moment I think we're in a really good place with this all, and are much less at risk than Ipswich, who, without having the higher status academy are always going to struggle to persuade players that they should entrust them with their career.

In my opinion.
