The problem is though that the arbiter of whether something is "offensive"
has become whether someone is offended by it rather than whether someone should be offended by it or to put it another way whether its genuinely offensive.
Because of this I think some people feel the need to apologise in advance because people seem to be able to take/find offence in virtually anything.
People even have to apologise now for things they genuinely believe and have an absolute right to believe.
