It's not about equality mate that's a smokescreen. Ironically it's about retention and 'manning' we cant retain enough young lads and we cant entice enough to fill the void so we are dumbing down the fitness levels to accommodate females in combat roles to fill the gaps.

My last job before I left was manning Divisional units to their wartime establishment for the 2nd Iraq conflict. Needless to say the dynamics of arms plotting female soldiers to backfill Regiments all go to pot when lots of them suddenly fall pregnant prior to deployment so you have to then backfill those posts with part-time soldiers. You can argue the merits of that I know but the reality of it is quite stark when

It's a wonderful idea but it's not really about equality at all, it's about getting the numbers in and it's easy to say "oh this is terrific yay let's all be equal opportunities" but this isn't about a civilian company flogging cars or something this is about sending young people off to war by reducing standards and it is f**king shameful. in my opinion.
