I completely agree. His response has been very arrogant

I don't think there can be any doubt, even if his version of events were the complete truth, that what he did was wrong or at least immoral and a very poor standard of conduct. A standard of conduct that he should be thoroughly ashamed of. The way the girl has been hounded subsequently is also truly despicable.

I don't think he needs to apologise or even admit that he's guilty of the crime he was convicted of, (and as said above, who'd believe his apology?) but he does need to show remorse for the standard of behaviour he demonstrated - it was underhand, foolish, immoral and disrespectful even if the most positive view of events were believed.
