Yes but an assist is the final pass before a goal. Wes is involved more than that.

His value comes from moving the ball and and spreading play often into space wide for someone else to then make the pass that would count as an assist.

So yes a No 10 is about goals and assists but sometimes the 'assist' stat wise is the easy bit, its the ball before or the ball before that that unlocked the whole passage of play.
