Did it myself for twelve years. PCG is a good source of info and you can get an acct to do the paperwork you don't fancy.

Oh and register for vat soonest. Means you effectively pay vat-net on stuff you get for yourco.

Make sure your contracts are watertight in terms of being a contract for services not of service. The latter will mean Hector chasing you for employment taxes even though your clients will not be giving you employee protections and benefits. It's called IR35 and again PCG good source of info on that.
