we pressed high up the pitch, much higher than we usually do and I thought we would. Their keeper was repeatedly forced to kick long.

When they did get the ball just inside their own half, we shuffled back but Holt and Wes were still pressing hard.

I think you're being ridiculous.

And grossly unfair, because we didn't play that way against West Ham and QPR at home. We attacked but didn't get the breaks. If you think Hughton will play defensive at home against weaker teams you're doing him a massive disservice based on nothing.
