But this is the eternal paradox

Players from the top flight are only available if they aren't getting a game at their own clubs are too old or aren't good enough. We signed experienced internationals last time we went up and look what happened, Worthy didn't even play them and when he did, they were played out of position.

Unlike the last time we went up we do seem to be deploying equal amounts of prudence with ambition, if we go down, and it would be no surprise if we did, we at least have a team hugely capable of getting us back up with a year of Premiership experience for when we get back, hopefully at the first attempt.

That said, if we do manage to finish above the bottom three we will have a young squad with a year of premier league experience under their belts.

It didn't work last time we went up, mainly because we didn't win until November and not at all away from home, even so, winning one of those many draws or defeats where we'd been in front (Crystal Palace, Man City) would have kept us up. I think we'll win games with this team and that we'll surprise a few people with a different approach and unlike Blackpool, Lambert is capable of consolidating in the new year if we're looking capable of staying up.
