Last night

the Burnley match summed it up for me. They had a small squad last season (ie not seventeen players for every position). They were led out last night by their 37-y-o captain. Their goal was scored by Robbie Blake. OK, that's probably their moment of premiership glory rather like ours - but at least they didn't clear out long standing servants, bring in a load of overpaid dross, only to have to start again next season if they end up back in the championship, and without their core team that got the up this time.

Sorry, I know it's an old argument, but the way we handled our premiership promotion was to me the start of our troubles. And no lessons have been learnt.

The McNally - 'show them who's boss' approach to Colchester is the best thing I've seen since that promotion. More relevantly, exactly how we should have behaved when we came down - not "ooh lots of good teams in this divisio, show them respect and fear"
