Man City are a freakish exception - but most other clubs are retrenching ahead of the gathering storm. A well run NCFC could have been in place to take advantage of this - but we're anything but well run. The national media were staggered when we appointed Roeder, as was I: it made no sense at all.

Granted, our place in the pecking order is obviously lower than before the SKY boom - but that it's now as low as it is is down to incompetence, and nothing else. As is the case at Leeds, Leicester, Charlton or Southampton.
