It's because of your incompetence in running up the debts in the first place. West Brom, run well, and with the vision to appoint someone with a decent track record when they sacked Bryan Robson, almost came down with us, yet are doing fine. Palace came down with us, but because they had the sense to appoint a real winner at this level, are doing alright too - even though Jordan wants to sell them! Then come us and Southampton, both run incompetently to a greater or lesser degree.
Roeder's track record was appalling. It is incredible that they appointed him; incredible that they appointed Grant before him; and incredible they left Worthington in for as long as they did. It's also incredible that they removed Martin Armstrong and replaced him with their mate the grocer, sacked Mike Walker horribly prematurely, and allowed Rioch to be stabbed in the back and replaced by their mate the Blarneymeister.
This isn't the record of a board that knows what they're doing. It's a record of incompetents. Competently run clubs do not make the serial mistakes ww do; which is why they're where they are, and we're where we are.
