I jump back and forth over the fence with Roeder, on one hand he does everything right, from his staff appts to the players he buys. Everything he does make sense, he has made us a much more professional outfit, from the shambles that was Peter Grant. On the other hand he motivates the players about as much as I?m motivated to do the ironing after smoking a spliff. I have real concerns that Roeder has the Ramos syndrome and has the man management skills of Glenn Hoddle. It could be said that this is down to the loan players playing for pride but not playing for their livelihoods, but it?s far too easy just to blame the loan players, loans or not it?s up to the manager to motivate them to win, like hucks, like Ched. I hope I?m wrong and have been many times before ? just look at league 3 of Yellalee?s prediction league!!
I will argue with anyone who thinks on paper we have a bad team, I look at each position and we have 2 decent ?for this level? players and often 3 or 4 collectively. We are weak upfront but then again neutral friends have laughed at me when I moan about this considering we currently have Sibi, Loops and Lita, all 3 should be storming this league.
Those who have read my thoughts in the past will know that I?m one of the more patient fans who perhaps accepts mediocrity a bit too readily because of the harsh realities of the situation our football club is in and has gone through. I have always been a big fan of the boards, the mistakes they have made have never been, in my eyes, disingenuous, however they have made an abundance of mistakes both financial and managerial.
I hope those who are booing Fozzy and Ozzy are happy with their scapegoats and of course everyone knows booing our own players definitely boosts confidence and encourages them to perform to a higher standard. Fair enough air your opinions after the game if things, you feel, are that bad, but booing our own, during the game, to me, is the same as the scum booing and as far as I?m concerned you may as well go join them, they?ll treat you like a hero.
I have a horrible feeling that we will not be a successful side with Roeder in charge but I really, really want to be wrong but as Harry Redknapp has proved this week, a charismatic manager can have a huge effect on a team and it?s not all about organisation, discipline and planning.
And just to play the old broken record, those of us who called Roeder a stupid t**t face c**t after releasing Huckerby, are still waiting to be proved wrong, I sadly still feel justified in my over reaction that day.
Hey could be worse, we could be Luton fans.........
