X Box 360 advice required for an old fart...

Now comes in 3 flavours, Core, Premium & Elite, s**t loads of dosh difference. Top 2 come with wireless controllers, are they still s**t? Won't be getting HD TV anytime soon, so is it really worth spending the extra for a 9 year old? Comparisson site:
