The overall feeling I get, see and sense is that the club is tired, complacent and, added to that, a little bit of dry rot has set in at the foundations and been allowed to spread, quietly but remorselessly upwards...
Maybe the club should have seized the opportunity the day we were promoted. Yes, the celebrations outside City Hall were fantastic, but, the very second they were over, the powers that be at NCFC should have sat down and said "right, we have an asset that is going places now-lets get things right and define who we are and we're we're going".
And, like the old Soviet Politbureaus, they should have put a 5 year plan into place, a workable one, a realistic one, one that illustrated ambition, growth, and, crucially, illustrated the club as a growing concern and something that other people would ultimately want to get involved with.
Instead, I rather fear that they all sat back, slapped each other on the backs and enjoyed the ride. Hell, they were still enjoying the ride after we lost 6-0 at Fulham, a day and result which is surely now one of the defining moments in the total history of this club?
Top to bottom, change is needed. Why doesn't the Academy seem to be working? Why does a coach with the reputation and expertise of Martin Hunter feel he has to go to Watford to achieve what he wants to do in the game? Why do players not want to come here-bollocks and bulls**t to this "location" nonsense, that has nothing to do with it-Plymouth, they attract decent loan players, one good example, so whats the REAL reason?
Think of all the good players just one club, Manchester United, have loaned out this season-and last? Not one, not f**king one has come anywhere near coming here, despite the spin about Gunny's diary (spare me!) and relationship with Sir Alex. WHY is that?
I'd take relegation if it meant all the old wood being swept out and a new broom from the very top downwards coming in and talking football and dragging us into the 21st century of football. As for the seemingly blunt insistance that they need to be "Norwich fans"-Jesus H Christ, do us all a favour!
If anything, having fans in such a position can be a negative thing. Ridsdale was a Leeds fan wasn't he?
Tear everything up and start again. Bidders welcomed.
