Delia (or whoever NCFC is owned by) could demolish the ground and build luxury riverside flats on top of Carrow Road if she wanted, but the only thing that Portman Road can be used for (according to the deeds of covenant in the land itself) is as a venue for sport. It's owned by the people.

It's not unlike the Chelsea pitchowners arrangement really that protects Stamford Bridge.

If the land that Carrow Road is built on was owned by the local authorities then Norwich would be in a position to take more risk in terms of outside investment as well.

A lot of people make the same error when thinking that its good for the club to own its own land.
