Having mentioned Boys from the Blackstuff, below

I bought and rewatched those, um, last yearish. This yearish? Anyway, they're still brilliant, but I was amazed at how rarely they were funny, because I remembered laughing a lot the first time around. I mentioned this to a few buddies and the general opinion was that things were so bad back then that we'd laugh at pretty much anything.

Can't see that, myself: I reckon it was more to do with how young I was back then, and that I was/we were laughing at things we couldn't fully understand.

Anyone have any opinions, or do too few of us remember it clearly enough?
