Injury problems

The problems with Shackell and Murray are of Grant`s own making in playing players when he shouldnt and failing to rely upon the youngsters to fill the positions of injured/ill players.

If Murray wasnt fit then he clearly should have played Eagle or Spillane or Rossi Jarvis or Bexfield. Lappin could have filled in at left back with Eagle, Spillane or Jarvis playing in midfield. If he wanted to play Lappin in midfield Bexfield or Jarvis could have filled in at left back. When Shackell was injured in the first half Grant should have taken him off as a precaution and put on Spillane at centre back.

All these options were surely better than playing Murray ( who clearly shouldnt even have travelled ) and carrying on with Shackell after he was injured.

Grant seems to be even more anti youth than Worthington. Ok he played youth players last year ( and none of them let him down) but that was because there was noone else available. Those youth players are a year older and the likes of Rossi Jarvis having acquitted himself well last year for Rotherham in the 1st division should have been given their opportunity under the squad system.

Another bleat from grant that annoys me is about teh cost of central defenders now torwards the end of the transfer window. This much was obvious. Why then did he not concentate on getting in a central defender as a priority as soon as the window opened?
