Belated thoughts on yesterday

1. Didn't really give a toss about the result. Good riddance to a cr*p season.

2. Drury at fault again for their first goal - baffled as to why he has been given such a long contract although he was good once so hopefully Grant can turn his form around.

3. Hucks on his day is too good for most in the division. We must take advantage of our last season with him next season.

4. Thought Fozzy was up for it and had one of his better games for us.

5. Martin is wasted on the right wing but still has a cracking first touch. It may not be th end of the wrold if we sell Earnie if it means we get 3 million and can shift Martin back into the middle.

6. Major difference under Grant is that although our results remain inconsistent we do at least attack and create chances. We had 7 or 8 good chances yesterday and should not really have lost. I think we will pick up quite a few away wins next season - just need to sort the home form.

7. Corners are getting better. Stage one has been reached in that we now seem to be able to deliver corners and our tall players (Shack, Etuhu, Dion) are getting on the end of them making us a real threat for once. Stage 2 is to teach them to get their headers on target! Shack should have had a hat-trick yesterday from set peices.

8. Judging by the end of the game yesterday my view is that Dion is definitely off and Earnie does not know whether he will be here or not next season.

9. If Grant gets the 5 or 6 he wants and gets them in early so for the first time in ages the team plays together for a proper pre-season then i am still reasonably optimistic for next season. Otsemabor sounds likely andhe would be a good start. Add a strong centre-half and a half decent keeper and the defence will improve. Next priority is probably cover for Saf.
