I suspect though, that the players who came in after promotion - Doherty, Ashton and Safri for example,weren't on that type of deal anyway. And Ashton's salary was actually increased last season.
One of the great myths is that we made a big profit on Ashton. Not so. Bought for £4.9 million sold for £7.5 million. Take his wages out of that and there's not much left.
And we haven't had all the £7.5 million yet.
