I know I keep harping on about this, and it sounds like I kept defending Wagner but rarely does sacking a manager fix the fundamental issues at a club for it's lack of success.
Pep isn't going into Rotherham and make them world beaters without better players.
I think History will judge Wagner pretty well.
Made the top 6 with a squad that wasn't close to being top 4 quality.
IMHO that's not a huge failure.
Before we start celebrating Wagners demise it should be noted the club has a monumental task of rebuilding.
It should also be worth noting that Knapper has no experience of this or picking a manager/coach for this huge task.
Clearly the squad has gotten really old and we need to bring through some of the talent currently on loan.
Need to probably sell Idaho and Tzolis to raise some initial cash. Probably need to bin the whole back line apart from Gunn if we want to seriously challenge for promotion again.
This could be really painful for a while.
